Under CFR 49 Part 40, employers hiring workers who will perform safety sensitive tasks and will be part of a random drug and/or alcohol screening pool, must obtain the previous Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated drug and alcohol screening records from any previous employer where the employee was also part of a DOT-regulated drug and alcohol screening program for the time period specified by each DOT agency.
